Automation and Balluff Safety work to innovate the
integration of safety in work-cells while minimizing risks to
humans. Starting with safe signal acquisition and
communication, Balluff's safety I/O module uses IO-Link to
link automation and safety technology with the Safety Hub.
The new Safety Hub I/O module is connected to the IO-Link
Master and all field safety devices are connected directly to
the Safety Hub for reliable communication with the safety
controller.
SAFETY HUB I/O
This unique approach by Balluff integrates safety and
automation in one system. Making this possible is IO-Link
which supports both sensor/actuator communication and then
also supports safety communication on the same line. With
Safety over IO-Link, you capitalize on the best qualities of
each discipline. Add to that, the integration of safety
technology becomes clearer and more simple than ever
before.
Parameterization is accomplished centrally using the
controller. Then safety related data is communicated directly
through the master to the controller. Secure communication
with the controller is assured by the use of Profisafe via
Profinet.
SAFETY SENSORS
With
decades of excellence in the design and manufacturing of
non-contact sensors, Balluff supplies non-contact safety
sensors which are perfectly suited for reliably detecting and
communicating the position of doors and covers without
concern for how dusty or dirty the application environment
might be. These sensors provide all the protection expected
from safety sensors and are resistant to dirt, insensitive to
mechanical wear and tear, small and easy to install, all
while being resistant to unauthorized manipulation.
